PEKAN, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, graciously consented to officiate the Training of Testers (ToT) Programme for the Sports Talent Identification and Development (MyTID) here today.
His Royal Highness's arrival was accompanied by the Crown Prince of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
National Sports Institute (ISN) Board Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkharnain Ismail said that the programme aims to produce competent and standardised testers, as well as standardise test implementation procedures and data collection at the school level.
"A total of 66 teachers have been provided with theoretical and practical training regarding the implementation of MyTID tests. Teachers who have undergone the training will act as MyTID testers in their respective schools and support data collection for the pilot implementation of the MyTID project in the state of Pahang," he said in his speech at the programme's launch held at a hotel.
He noted that a sports science-based talent identification approach is a strategic investment to build a more structured, inclusive, and sustainable foundation for athlete development.
"Through MyTID, we want to ensure that talent identification efforts do not rely solely on observation or coincidence, but are strengthened through scientific methods, expertise, and data that can support athlete development planning," he said.
Zulkharnain stated that the selection of Pahang as the pilot state for the programme's implementation is based on the experience and cooperation established between ISN, the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), the Pahang State Education Department, and schools in various sports talent identification and development initiatives.
"Through the implementation of this pilot project, ISN aims to develop a ToT implementation model that can be evaluated, refined, and strengthened before being expanded to other states," he said.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Mordi Bimol and Pahang State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports, and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee Chairman Datuk Fadzli Mohamad Kamal.
